Default I seem to die alot

I only recently bought factions. And I started playing Dervish, but i find myself dying alot. This is my build

D/Mo w/40 armor
Earth Prayers 3 , Healing Prayers 4, Mysticism 10, Scythe Mastery 11

Heart of Fury
Vital boom
Heart of Holy Flame
Mystic Vigor
Chilling Victory
Mystic Sweep
Reversal of Fortune
Mending

Normally when i start.....i cast mending, Vital Boom and mystic Vigor once i get up to the mob i use Heart of Fury. And just try to keep those 3 enhancements up. Mostly im playing solo with heros/henchmen. Idk if this is just how dervish is, or im just doing something wrong.

no dervs are not like that...its just your inexperienced
you can use your h/h to tank if you are dying use them to hold aggro and then you start twatting stuff (!)

just to clarify you bought factions but are playing a derv? - so you started in NF and went over to the factions campaign?
probably not the best thing to do...factions has the hardest learning curve if you jump straight into playing on the mainland of Cantha >.< - not your fault but probably best to play through NF before entering factions...

also best to get max armor (70 on derv??? - can't remember >.<) you only have 40 as said so the jade brotherhood eles are gonna pwn yo ass :P

---------------------------------------

on the build itself...
drop mending - sarcastically its leetsauce - but it kills your energy regen for a bad return - especially at 4 healing prayers...
reversal of fortune = BIG nono - your monks will take care of the protection spells - whether heroes or hench monks!
d/mo IMO isn't the best profession for dervs - better to try /war or something...
heart of fury is enough - you won't need heart of holy flame unless against undead enemies
other than that your bar isn't bad...but when you venture far enough into NF - as I guess you haven't yet you'll get access to elite skills which will help booster your bar!

REMOVE THE HEALING PRAYERS - PUT A FEW MORE INTO earth prayers and use some runes:- +1 mysticism or scythe mastery on your headgear (make sure your head gear has a natural +1 attribute in either of these)
and then put a +1 rune in whichever is not on the head gear onto a different amor piece (i.e. footwear) and then another +1 rune for earth prayers onto another piece.
if you are still dying with max armor etc... try putting a +30 or +41 hp rune onto your armor as well

also your hero bars may need some alteration to help keep you alive...if you want some advice on good hero bars I will be happy to help you out there
or if you have any other questions then feel free to PM me: sepulchre krelish

You build is standard newbie i-have-no-idea, but its not going to cause you to die a lot. Dervish is fairly resilient profession, you should not be dying at all, just stop using monk stuff.

Chances are, you gave your heroes subpar (or even hanfull) builds or let em use their default skillset.

You'd need to post their builds too because thats where you are propably doign something wrong.

yer think that is best...post the heroes (you have / the ones you use and the bars they have)

some of your bar is good - as highlighted in my first reply (heart of fury < i.e. - nice IAS)

dervs are resilliant - GET MAX ARMOR

As said, drop the monking skills and healing prayers. Have you been to Consulate Docks yet? If yes, you can buy max armor (70) from there. Also if you have the chance (cause I'm not sure how far u gotta go to get it) use Mystic Regeneration, it's good enough at start. And yeah, post your heros builds also .

Your build indicates a misunderstanding of the monk-warrior dynamic. The Monk is better at keeping people alive than the Warrior, and the Warrior is better at killing stuff than the Monk. Therefore, in an optimal setting, the Warrior focuses on killing stuff and the Monk focuses on keeping the Warrior alive. You're doing it a bit backwards.

Mending is a terrible skill. You're sacrificing a quarter of your energy for a tiny amount of health regen. Heart of Holy Flame is not worth the energy (and if you want to deal holy damage, hoo boy, wait 'til you get Aura of Holy Might). And Reversal of Fortune is completely wrong. Isn't it a prot skill? You have no points in prot, and even if you did it would be better off on a monk's bar.

Not a big fan of Mystic Vigor, either. However, I don't think you've gone all the way through NF (a mistake, I'd say, because NF has all the dervish skills, including the elites), so you might be able to scrape by with it. Still, I think Faithful Intervention would serve that role better (and you don't need to maintain it, it has no duration and no upkeep!).

You should focus less on tanking and more on killing stuff. Put a few more attack skills on your bar and build some good monk heroes.

Heh...Vital Boom...I'd use a skill with that name...

get out of factions

if you started in a campaign best to finish it first - dervish = finish NF (!) - you get some good skills in NF - and you won't get ANY derv skills (normal or elite) in factions!

hero builds plz
then I can give you better advice on how to proceed

factions has the hardest learning curve for new players - Phropecies has the easiest then NF then factions (!)
but do NF complete that - then probably good to get into phropecies if you have the trilogy pack (!)
then do factions - as it gives nothing towards your first profession

again for better advice and question answering PM me: sepulchre krelish

Au contraire! You get Aura of Holy Might from factions, which is a greeat skill~ But yes, it can wait, just get yourself through NF and on the way capture Wounding Strike and Reaper's Sweep, the two scythe mastery elites, if you like you can also capture avatars, but I'd stick with the reaper's and wounding.

One skill isn't enough to argue the point that a Dervish belongs in Nightfall. In addition AoHM is attainable by just AB'ing.

Try a different strategy. Mine is to kill everything before you have a chance to die, instead of trying to stay alive.

I found that I died often with my new derv until I did two things --

1. Got max armor with Windwalker insignias
2. Captured all the elite God forms

To do the second you'll need to go back to Nightfall and make it to the mainland. The Acolytes you capture the forms from also may drop some unique scythes which can really help too.

I use "I am Unstoppable" instead of GDA, can't be removed + it gives KD immunity.

Start in Nightfall, finish Nightfall, get your heroes up to par. If you have trilogy, do the Olias quest and begin setting up a minion master hero.

And right away couple things.

1. Find a longbow, no attribute required. Easy to find on starter islands, these will have a max damage rating of 8-11. Put it in weapons slot 4. Use it as a pulling bow, and to initiate combat so your heroes and hench can aggro. Two shots, switch to scythe and then get in there.

2. A dervish while leveling up is not a tank and even after that. Always take along a hero warrior or a hench warrior. Let the warrior tank. if you are the first target in range, the mob will unload everything on you. Don't want that. Play the dervish a bit like an assassin. Get in after your party takes aggro, switch targets, get those softies, and most of all stay mobile.

Just to clarify you are going melee right? And in PvE? first of all go grab some faction points and get the dervish nightfall gift from god. The aura of holy might. Secondly Faithful intervention is beast, and add mystic regeneration so that your health is constantly going up because of your enchants. Also you need max armor (duh) it is 70 for the dervish.

AoHM is good but it isn't the most important part of the build. Generally, trying a bit less to replace the monks wouldn't hurt, but the survivability thing is probably mostly due to having only 40 armor, and the rest may be down to hero builds.
